Day 8

The power of our thoughts is demonstrated in a story of a gentleman that worked unloading freight cars. His work day was over but they ask if he would be willing to stay after and unload a refrigerated freight car. He agreed and was almost finished when he accidentally hit the prop that was holding the door open. He found himself trapped inside and unable to get out. All the other workers had already gone home and when they returned to work the next day they found the man dead in the boxcar. The problem was there was no explanation for his death. The refrigeration in the box car did not work, and they couldn't understand why the man had died, but then someone discovered writing on the wall of the car. The man had written his thoughts on the wall of the box car he was trapped in, he didn't know the refrigeration wasn't working and he thought he was freezing to death. These are the words they discovered written on the wall; " It's getting cold in here." Later he wrote, "I'm getting colder and colder, no way to get out." The last phrase on the wall was, "They are going to find me dead in here." And that's exactly what happened. He believed it so much in his mind that his body responded to his thoughts and shut completely down.

This is the reason we need to make sure that we guard our thoughts. Don't allow the enemy to get in your head. We are who God says we are. We are not who our parents say we are, or our spouse, or siblings, or friends. We have a purpose and destiny on our lives, breathed into us by the living God. So if we keep our thought process in sync with Christ, we will find ourselves living that abundant life He intended for us to have.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 - The weapons of our warfare are not physical weapons of flesh and blood. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,

Philippians 4:8 - And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Proverbs 23:7 - For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he....

Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.
