Day 13

There is a story told of a little boy standing on the banks of the Mississippi River watching an older gentleman fishing. The young boy had many questions for the old fisherman, and he answered all of them with great patience. Suddenly the little boy saw a steamship come around the bend of the river and without any explanation begin to jump up and down waving his arms and screaming, "I want to ride, I want to ride!" The old man looked at the boy and smiled saying, "Son that ship isn't going to stop for you." The little boy looked back at the fisherman and started jumping higher and yelling louder, "I want to ride, I want to ride!"

The old man looked sympathetic toward the young boy and said, "Son, do you know what ship that is? That's the River Queen, and a ship as important as that ship is doesn't have time for a little boy like you." The young boy looked at the old gentlemen, then once again turned his face toward the steamship and began frantically jumping, waving his arms, and screaming at the top of his voice, "I want to ride! I want to ride!" The old fisherman was exasperated with the little boy and was just about to tell him to quit all that jumping and yelling, when he saw the steamship head toward shore. As the River Queen came in close to the bank, a plank was positioned and the little boy scurried up the plank and on board the ship. The old man stood gazing with his mouth gaped open as the ship started on its way back down the river, trying to understand what had just happened. That's when he saw the little boy climb up on the rail and heard him holler, "I knew he would come, my Daddy's The Captain!

So if your tired of being bound on shore and feeling like your life is at a stand still, this might be a good time to lift your hands toward heaven and begin to cry out to your Heavenly Father, remember He is still The Captain!

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
