Day 16

There is a story told of a lady that owned a parakeet named Skippy. One day she was vacuuming out the bottom of Skippy's cage when the phone rang. She turned to answer the phone and said hello when she heard a strange sound. When she turned back to look at what had caused that strange noise, she noticed Skippy had disappeared from his cage. She screamed oh no!

She immediately shut off the vacuum and heard a voice on the line asking, "What's wrong?" The lady replied, "I think I just sucked up my parakeet, I'll call you back." She quickly took the bag out of the vacuum and began to panic when she saw it was nearly full to the top with dust, lint, and dirt. As she anxiously dug through the debris she started to see something move. "Skippy," she said. "I'm so sorry. She ran to the kitchen and held Skippy under cold water trying to wash him off. When she realized Skippy had caught a chill and was shaking she plugged up her blow dryer and proceeded to blast him dry. Several days passed when her phone rang again. "How is Skippy?" her friend asked.

"Alright I guess, He doesn't sing much anymore. He just sits on his swing and stares at the door of his cage."

Have you ever been there, gone through a situation that left you feeling like you had been sucked up, held under, and blown off? If we are not careful we can allow circumstances to steal our song.

Beside the rivers of Babylon, we sat and wept as we thought of Jerusalem. We put away our harps, hanging them on the branches of poplar trees. Psalm 137:1-2 NLT

We need to remember, circumstances .didn't give us our song, so let's not allow them to take our song away!

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart.nHe helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7

Psalm 30:5 ......weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
