Day 12 - Not So Pretty Little Liars

READ Proverbs 12

“The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble.” Proverbs 12:13

If that isn’t enough to convince you that lying is never a good idea, then check out verse 22: “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.”

While a lie is definitely saying something that isn’t true, it can also include exaggerating, using flattering speech (when you don’t mean it), making up excuses, being dishonest, and cheating. We may think that telling a small lie is not a big deal, but regardless of how big or small it is, the Lord detests it. Choosing not to speak the truth harms not only those that we lie to, but also ourselves. Don’t dig a hole for yourself by speaking a lie; choose to speak the truth in all circumstances, even if it would be easier in the moment not to!
