Day 9 - Receiving Correction

READ Proverbs 9

How someone deals with correction and instruction is a sure sign of their wisdom (or lack of).

“Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt… But correct the wise, and they will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous and they will learn even more” (Proverbs 9:7-9)

Wise people are willing to learn, and one way they will learn is from the correction and advice from those around them. How do you react when your Fuse Group leader or your parent lovingly corrects you? Do you reject it and insult them behind their back, or do you receive it and become a wiser person because of it? Wise people not only receive correction, but they also love the person who brings it to them.

How have you handled correction in the past? Did you get mad at people that offer advice or were you glad they cared enough to say something to you?

If you don’t have someone in your life who will correct and instruct you, then open up in your small group and invite the leader to be completely honest with you in this way.

PRAY and ask God to point out anything in your heart that needs to be corrected or changed.
