Day 5 - Sweet Like Poison

READ Proverbs 5

“For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double-edged sword.” Proverbs 5:4-5

If Marvel comics ever needed another female super-villain character, then the woman referred to in Proverbs 5 is the one. While her speech is smoother than oil and her lips drip with honey (5:3), in the end she is sweet like poison, as dangerous as a sword, and her steps lead straight to the grave (5:4-5).

Guys, watch out for this kind of girl…“She does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it” (5:6). Your ‘flirt to convert’ strategy will not work with this girl; instead of influencing her she will influence you, so keep your distance. Girls, the same thing applies to you; stay away from the guy who is subtly leading you away from God with his smooth moves and sweet words.

Be real with yourself today; if there is someone like this in your life then admit that to yourself and to God. Thankfully, through the power of Jesus we are able to resist sin and overcome anything (or anyone) that tries to lead us astray.
